Individual Event 1 of the 2024 CrossFit Games has been announced. While specific details have not been released, the event is called ‘Run Swim’ with athletes taking on a four-mile course. However, the breakdown between the run and swim has not yet been disclosed.
Following the run, athletes will hop into a lake (more on this below) to swim an unspecified distance.
In the video on Instagram, an overhead view of Marine Creek Lake is shown. Additionally, the athlete in the post is shown running over a bridge that resembles a bridge over the northern point of the reservoir along the Marine Creek Park Trail.
From Dickies Arena, Marine Creek Lake is an 8.8-mile drive north that takes approximately 23 minutes to drive to.
Marine Creek Park Trail
Marine Creek Park Trail is a 6.0-mile loop that circles Marine Creek Lake. On AllTrails.com, the route is considered moderately challenging and is exposed with little shade.
Below are several videos showing the path of the entire 6.0-mile loop, a portion of which the athletes will take on during the four-mile run.
Marine Creek Lake
As for the lake itself, it is a 250-acre lake that features multiple entry points around the lake, including two boat docks and several other easy access points from the trail.
Motorized vehicles are prohibited, but kayaks, paddleboats and other non-motorized boats are allowed on the lake. The trail and lake is free to the public but requires a permit for events with over 100 people.
