Individuals & Teams Will Face Two Cuts at the 2023 NOBULL CrossFit Games

The 2023 NOBULL CrossFit Games will implement cuts once again this year for both the individual and team competition. In an email sent to athletes yesterday, the athlete field will be narrowed down twice throughout the weekend.

The individual and team competition is scheduled to begin on Thursday, August 3, where 40 men, 40 women and 38 teams will square off. But at the end of Friday night, the competition will be narrowed down to just the top 30 teams and the top 30 men and women.

Then, at the end of Saturday, the field will be cut once again leaving just the top 20 teams and top 20 men and women to compete on Sunday.

The two-cut format is similar to that of the 2021 NOBULL CrossFit Games were Friday night cut the individual athletes down to the top 30, but then again to the top 20 after just one event on Saturday. This year, however, the second cut won’t come until the end of Saturday, thereby allowing those athletes facing elimination a few more events to make a move into the top 20. For teams in 2021, the field faced three cuts that saw the field down to just the top 10 for the last two events on Sunday.

Last year, the individuals faced just one cut down to the top 30 after Saturday night. The teams also only had one cut last year after Saturday night where the field was reduced to the top 20 teams for Sunday.

For the athletes who are eliminated from competition prior to Sunday, they will retain access to the campus and the individual athletes will receive a ticket to watch the rest of the competition in the Coliseum.
