Is Dave Castro Bringing Back the BIG BOB to the 2026 CrossFit Games?

In a video published today on the CrossFit Games YouTube channel, Dave Castro is shown walking about the SAP Center, home of the 2026 CrossFit Games. Over the course of six minutes Dave shares several hints for the upcoming CrossFit Games.

Let’s take a look…

Running Outside. Dave breaks out the trundle wheel, presumably the same wheel that was used for the 2023 “5k”, and begins walking from the edge of the indoor arena to outside SAP Center.

As he approaches the corner of Sharks Way and Barack Obama Boulevard, Dave asks about which roads will be closed during the CrossFit Games.

400-yard Loop. As he walks down Barack Obama Boulevard, he stops and notes a turnaround spot 200 yards from the inside.

It is interesting that in the video he is measuring in feet and converting to yards. Remember when the theory was that the 2023 5k was measured in yards, thereby making the course only 4,500 meters? Probably just a coincidence.

Moving on…

Arena Green Park. Dave then looks across the street to Arena Green Park. He says he is thinking about putting affiliates in that area and “having a tent city” in addition to activations throughout the week.

Big Bob. For those who aren’t familiar with CrossFit Games history, the Big Bob is a large sled that has been used by teams. Created in 2012, Big Bob was part of Frantasy Land and most recently in 2024 for the Farrington Five event.

While standing on Barack Obama Boulevard outside the SAP Center, Dave asks, “Do you know if they [the city] care if we push big steel objects on this [the road]?”

He follows up by looking at the camera and saying, “Dude, imagine this…imagine a drag race for teams sprinting Big Bob down Barack Obama. That’d be epic. That would be cool.”
