Josh Miller Will Have to Hold Off Mitchel Stevenson on Sunday for CrossFit Games Invite

Josh Miller is one day away from earning his first trip to the CrossFit Games. Miller holds a 38 point advantage over Mitchel Stevenson for the CrossFit French Throwdown invite after two days of competition.

The overall leader at the CrossFit French Throwdown is France’s own Willy Georges. Georges has already qualified for the CrossFit Games via the Open leads another Games veteran who has also earned a ticket to the Games, Jonne Koski. Both athletes are using the final Sanctional event as a final tune-up a month out from the Games in Madison.

The most important race, though, is between Miller and Stevenson. Both athletes are well ahead of the next non-qualified athlete, Alex Kotoulas. Kotoulas trails Miller by 124 points with just three events remaining and will need significant help from both athletes ahead of him.

Miller finished 131st worldwide in the Open this year. He has competed at Regionals four times, twice as an individual and twice on a team. He has never been to the CrossFit Games. Stevenson is looking to get back to the CrossFit Games after his rookie debut last year. Stevenson finished 32nd at the 2018 CrossFit Games.

Sunday includes a down-and-back chipper with handstand walks, pistols, box jumps and handstand push-ups followed by a snatch ladder in Event 8. The final event has yet to be announced.
