The main goal of regionals is to finish in the top 5 in order to qualify for the CrossFit Games. Sure, winning is nice but secondary to the ultimate goal. At the East Regional this year, Katrin Davidsdottir made qualifying for the Games look easy as she dominated the competition.
Coming off a disappointing (for her) finish at the CrossFit Games last year appears to have given the two-time Fittest Woman on Earth motivation in 2018. Davidsdottir did not only dominate the East Regional, she practically won every event.
Davidsdottir ended up winning five of the six events this weekend in New Albany, New York. The performance might be the best in CrossFit Games regional competition history. The five wins are the most of any athlete, beating Mat Fraser’s four event victories last year and five wins (out of seven events) in 2016.
On top of that, Davidsdottir holds the event record on Events 2 and 4. Her worst finish among all three regionals competing this weekend was 7th on Event 3, where she finished 3rd in her regional.

There are still six regional competitions remaining over the next two weekends, but for now, Katrin Davidsdottir looks to be one of the favorites once again in Madison.
