Kristi Eramo Declines Invite to CrossFit Games

Kristi Eramo qualified for her third consecutive CrossFit Games appearance after finishing 26th worldwide in the 2019 CrossFit Open. Eramo, however, will not be competing in Madison, Wisconsin, this August. Eramo has elected to decline her invite to the Games in order to focus on her health and well-being.

Eramo entered the season with the goal of qualifying for the CrossFit Games again. The goal would be put to the test with Eramo getting married and going on a honeymoon the first week of February, just two weeks before the start of the Open.

Her 26th worldwide finish in the Open allowed her to qualify for the Games via the Top 20 (after National Champions). But according to Eramo, once she achieved her goal for the season, she took a step back and “realized that this season may not be in the cards for [her].”

Eramo will wrap up her 2019 season by competing at the Rogue Invitational this weekend. After that Eramo will focus her time at her affiliate, CrossFit Polaris, and spending more time with family and friends.

Following her announcement, fellow Games athletes commented on her post.

Jennifer Dancer said, “This is why I have always loved you!!! You are so good with finding balance and I love that about u!! You are amazing kristi.”

Kristin Holte commented, “I don’t like that you won’t be competing with us at Games, but I love you and I am sure this is the best decision for you this year❤️ Can’t wait to take the competition floor with you next weekend 🐯💥 It’s going to be epic.”

Margaux Alvarez said, “You’re an amazing athlete and an incredible person with a great heart! Perfectly said – ‘if this still served me’. Our goals and paths may evolve and change over time – we simply change directions and keep moving forward ❤️💜.”
