Lukas Grouleff’s 2023 CrossFit Games season is over before it even started. Grouleff, who narrowly missed qualifying for the 2021 CrossFit Games after a 6th place finish at the CrossFit Lowlands Throwdown Semifinal, was looking to bounce back this year.
However, while competing at Wodapalooza last month, Grouleff fully ruptured a ligament in his elbow and partially tore another. The injury occurred in the first event while doing the heavy overhead squats.
At the time, Grouleff was not sure of the full extent of the injury while at Wodapalooza, but after further evaluation the injury is much worse than he had hoped.
Grouleff is now in the process of discussing various surgical options to maximize his ability to return to CrossFit and compete again. So while it sounds like we will likely see Grouleff back on the competition floor it won’t be this year.
