Madison, Wisconsin, Will Not Host the 2024 CrossFit Games

Earlier this year it was reported that the CrossFit Games would remain in Madison, Wisconsin, for the 2024 season. However, as originally reported by the Wisconsin State Journal, CrossFit has changed their plans and will not be returning next year.

The 2023 NOBULL CrossFit Games are slated to begin on Tuesday and now it will be the final Games at the Alliant Energy Center.

After seeing the original report, we confirmed with CrossFit that this will indeed be the last year. A spokesman at CrossFit shared, “The CrossFit Games gives us an opportunity to engage with our existing community and also expose new people to CrossFit. Over time, our goal is to bring the Games to more regions around the world. We’ve had an incredible run in Madison and we’re so grateful to the city and local community. We will announce the location of the 2024 CrossFit Games shortly after the conclusion of this season.”

No additional details were provided by CrossFit.

The first CrossFit Games in 2007 were held at The Ranch in Aromas, California. The Ranch continued to host the 2008 and 2009 CrossFit Games until it moved to The Home Depot Center in Carson, California, in 2010 (later renamed the StubHub Center) where it would remain through the 2016 Games. Then, from 2017 to 2023, Madison, Wisconsin, has been the home of the CrossFit Games.

As for where next year’s Fittest on Earth are crowned, that is still unknown. However, both Don Faul, CEO of CrossFit, and Dave Castro, GM of Sport, have made comments on podcasts that alluded to the possibility that a Games outside the United States could be seen in the future. Could that happen as soon as next year?
