Meg Reardon Wins Mid-Atlantic CrossFit Challenge

Dani Speegle was the favorite entering the weekend, but after struggling on Sunday, Meg Reardon overtook Speegle to win the 2019 Mid-Atlantic CrossFit Challenge. Speegle, who already has three top 5 Sanctional event finishes, had to settle for 2nd place after looking strong at the start of the weekend.

Reardon held the lead briefly on Sunday, but entered the final event six points behind Speegle. Reardon was able to navigate the ring muscle-ups and heavy squat snatches to take 2nd on the final event. Speegle, however, had to break up the final set of nine muscle-ups several times, allowing for Reardon and Paige Semenza to pass her. With the win Reardon will now receive an invite to compete as an individual at the 2019 CrossFit Games. Reardon competed at the 2016 CrossFit Games where she took 33rd.

While Reardon will receive an invitation to the CrossFit Games, she may not accept it. Reardon is considering going team and would decline gong to the Games as an individual. If that happens, Katie Trombetta would be next in line for a Games invitation. To make things even more complicated, Trombetta could qualify for the CrossFit Games via the Open if one athlete ahead of her in Open standings goes team (which many expect Tasia Percevecz to do so). If that is the case, Paige Semenza will receive the Games invite even though she finished 5th at the MACC.

Final Standings
1) Meg Reardon (794 pts)
2) Dani Speegle (790)
3) Katie Trombetta (739)
4) Melissa Herman (718)
5) Paige Semenza (706)
