Neal Maddox Wins Masters 40-44 Division, Will Step Away from Competing (For Now)

Neal Maddox had been looking forward to competing in the Masters divisions for a couple years. Last year he got his shot in the newly created 35-39 year-old division. Maddox would end up taking 2nd behind Kyle Kasperbauer.

In 2018, Maddox would return, but in the 40-44 age group. Maddox would dominate his competition this year, winning six of the 11 events. In doing so Maddox would dethrone defending champ Shawn Ramirez.

But after being crowned the champion of his age group, Maddox announce to the crowd that he was going to step away from competing for a few years to focus on his family (he’s getting married) and helping other athletes train and get to where he is via his upcoming training program, the Maddox Method.

He did, however, leave the door open for a return in the Masters 45-49 division.

Watch Maddox’s interview below (you’ll have to fast forward to 1:04:00 in the video…since FB won’t let us start the video at a certain time like other video providers…).
