This afternoon Dave Castro interviewed Matt O’Keefe, CEO of HWPO, following the conclusion of interviewing all 79 individual athletes of the 2024 CrossFit Games. To kick off the interview, Castro shared the news that there will be a new ‘Top Training Camp Award’ for this year’s CrossFit Games.
Castro said there would be a trophy for the award, but that it would be presented to the winning training camp outside of the regular awards ceremony.
As for how CrossFit will determine the award, Castro admitted it’s still a work in process, “So what’s not determined yet is the rules around it, but it will be completely performance based.”
Castro’s current thinking is that the top three athletes from a training camp would count towards the camp’s score.
O’Keefe liked the idea and suggested that Castro should find an old CrossFit Games artifact to use as the ‘trophy’.
