We already knew that the Zeus Rig would be added to North Park at this year’s CrossFit Games. But we now know that North Park will fit even more spectators. Oh, by the way, we predicted the Zeus Rig would be back in 2018 last August…
This year the North Park will have 10,000 seats! Last year only had around 7,000 seats with some of those really far away from the action because the obstacle course separated them from the artificial turf area.
On top of that standing around the field will be available and a large video screen will highlight the action on the field. Also new this year will be the availability of food and beverages from within North Park. Last year spectators had to leave North Park (and their seat) to grab a drink.
The change to North Park could also have an impact on the type of events compared to last year. Last year the outdoor events were limited to strongman and bodyweight movements. This year gymnastics will be in play. Also, it is unclear how (or if) it is possible to create a running course outside of North Park like they did with the Madison Triplet.
As for Madison Club members, the area has moved to the other side of the field and will give those a great view of the finish line.
