Sam Briggs has faced her fare share of injuries throughout her CrossFit career. It looks like she can add one more to the tally. Briggs injured her lower leg while attempting 20.4 over the weekend.
Briggs completed 235 reps out of the 240 total on 20.4. Briggs was unable to complete the five clean and jerks at 205 pounds. The score dropped Briggs down the leaderboard as she took 864th in the world on the workout.
Yesterday, Briggs shared a photo of her wearing a protective boot on her left leg. Briggs commented, “We all know I’m no stranger to injuries and I’m planning on bouncing back from this too.”
It appears the injury is not too serious as Briggs said she hopes to be able to still compete at the CrossFit Filthy 150 later this month. The CrossFit Filthy 150 is the first Sanctional of the 2020 season and begins November 22.
With the possibility of qualifying directly to the Games via the Open, Briggs will now need to shift her focus to the Sanctionals. Last year Briggs won the Dubai CrossFit Championship and the Australian CrossFit Championship.
It has been an eventful Open for Briggs. She received a major penalty after her 20.1 video submission was reviewed.
