Team Online Semifinal Public Review Process Plagued by ‘Needs Review’ Votes

The public review period for the Team Online Semifinals is coming to a close today. CrossFit HQ will then take over and begin the final video review process. CrossFit will utilize the results of the public review when determining which videos to take a look at.

With that, I looked through the top 31 teams on the leaderboard to see how the public review process was going.

Why the top 31 teams? Because those are the teams that currently impact scores of the top 7 teams in position to qualify for the 2026 CrossFit Games.

So here’s a look at some stats from the video review process…

1,103 votes. The top 31 teams had 1,103 votes cast during the video review process.

Most votes. CrossFit Body Blueprint, the team who sits in 1st place overall, has received 150 votes, the most of any other team.

Over 100 votes. Only three teams received over 100 votes. CrossFit Body Blueprint (1st overall) had 150 votes, Solidarity CrossFit Basecamp (2nd overall) received 142 votes and CrossFit 1142 (4th overall) received 125 votes.

“Needs Review”. To say that the votes leaned more towards “Needs Review” is an understatement. Of the 1,103 votes cast, 729 (or 66%) are “Needs Review”. That means only 34% of the votes are “Good”.

More “Good” Than “Needs Review”. Only one team in the top 7 received more “Good” votes than “Needs Review”. That team was Solidarity CrossFit Basecamp in 2nd place. They have 60% “Good” votes.

Top 7 in Trouble? Five of the top 7 teams had 30% of their votes marked as “Good”. The 7th place team, AR-1 CrossFit, only has 13% of their 96 votes flagged as “Good”. CrossFit Reykjavik was at 21%. Q21 CrossFit is at 27%. CrossFit Body Blueprint is at 28% and CrossFit 1142 is at 30%.

Workout 4 was “Good”. Only one workout received more “Good” votes than “Needs Review” votes. That was Workout 4 with 51% of its votes flagged as “Good”.

Workout 2 “Needs Review”. This was the workout with the synchro line-facing burpees that required a two-foot takeoff. Not surprisingly, only 29% of the votes on this workout were “Good”. But good news for Solidarity CrossFit Basecamp fans, 77% of their votes were “Good”. Can’t say the same for AR-1 CrossFit as they received 2 “Good” votes and 31 “Needs Review” votes.

What’s Next

But just because a team received numerous “Needs Review” votes, it does not mean that CrossFit will penalize the team. CrossFit will use that data to determine which videos to review. CrossFit will only assess a penalty if they see movement faults or no reps.

So while a high “Needs Review” count is alarming, it is not guaranteed that CrossFit will agree with the majority.

CrossFit has until June 22 to finalize the Team Online Semifinal leaderboard. Let’s check back then to see how many teams received penalties…
