The Spin Top 25 Games Poll – June 21, 2023

A new era in CrossFit Games rankings has begun. The first official media poll ranking Games athletes is officially here.

The Spin Top 25 Games Poll is the first ranking system that will be published monthly and are compiled by polling some of the best media personalities in the CrossFit Games space. The poll is structured like that of the AP Poll for college football and basketball.

Each voter provides their own ranking of the top 25 men and women who will be competing at the CrossFit Games, and the individual rankings are then combined to produce a single ranking. An athlete receives 25 points for a 1st place vote, 24 for a 2nd place vote, and so on down to 1 point for 25th place.

The rankings are a forward-looking poll and will include those athletes who will be (or could be) competing at the next CrossFit Games.

Thus, only the 40 men and 40 women who will be competing as an individual at the 2023 NOBULL CrossFit Games can be considered in the current rankings. Therefore, athletes such as Tia-Clair Toomey, Mal O’Brien and Ricky Garard are not included in the current rankings.

Once the season is over, the first pre-season poll in August will rank athletes based on projections for the 2024 CrossFit Games. This is when Toomey, O’Brien, Garard and others could potentially break into the Top 25.

Who is voting in the poll?

There are 12 media personalities and analysts who have submitted their ballot for the first poll. Those include:

  • Brian Spin
  • John Young
  • Tyler Watkins
  • Sevan Matossian
  • Andrew Hiller
  • Chase Ingraham
  • Peter CPW
  • Amanda Hari
  • Barclay Dale
  • Chad Schroeder

Additional voters could be added in future months, including you! The next poll will include fan participation for those who become a Patreon of The Barbell Spin. Those Patreons will get the opportunity to submit their ballot on behalf of the fan vote beginning in July!
