Tia-Clair Toomey had a really good Saturday. The defending Games champion started out by winning the Madison Triplus over Kristi Eramo. From there Toomey would finish no worse than 6th place in the next three scored events. Toomey now holds a 114-point advantage over Laura Horvath in 2nd place.
After a day where Toomey relinquished the lead early on, Toomey has looked like the reigning champ ever since. Between Friday and Saturday, Toomey has not finished outside the top 6. And now with just one day left, Toomey is on track to repeat as the Fittest Woman on Earth.
Behind Toomey is where the battle is. Laura Horvath has maintained her 2nd place position over Games veterans like Annie Thorisdottir and Katrin Davidsdottir. The main challenger to Horvath heading into Sunday is Kara Saunders. Saunders vaulted herself into 3rd place last night after a 2nd and 1st place finish during Bicouplet 2 & 1, respectively. Now Saunders is just 10 points behind the rookie from Hungary.
Behind them Katrin Davidsdottir is the only athlete who could fight their way onto the podium Davidsdottir is 40 points behind Saunders. Davidsdottir won Chaos on Saturday afternoon, but finished in a disappointing 23rd place on Bicouplet 2.

Annie Thorisdottir was in the mix heading into Saturday but 19th on the Madison Triplus followed by 21st on Chaos moved Thorisdottir down the leaderboard. During Chaos, Thorisdottir had a heart arrhythmia episode during the box jumps. She came back later that night and finished 13th and 8th in the Bicouplet events.
Current Standings after Saturday:
1) Tia-Clair Toomey (928)
2) Laura Horvath (814)
3) Kara Saunders (804)
4) Katrin Davidsdottir (764)
5) Annie Thorisdottir (718)
In (bad) news outside the top 5, Sara Sigmundsdottir withdrew from the competition before Bicouplet 2 due to a stress fracture in her lower ribs. Sigmundsdottir was in 11th prior to ending her competition prematurely. It was the 3rd female athlete to withdraw due to injury this week.
There is one final day left of the 2018 CrossFit Games. There are three separate events left on the schedule for Sunday, meaning there are only 300 points left up for grabs. While Toomey likely has the title locked up, there is still a lot of fight remaining for the final two podium spots.
