Tia-Clair Toomey will not be competing at the Australian CrossFit Championship this January. The organizers of the CrossFit-sanctioned competition gave Toomey an automatic invite to compete, but Toomey notified them indicating that she would not travel to Australia for the event.
Toomey and her husband, Shane Orr, moved to Cookeville, Tennessee, this past fall. Rather than travel across the globe, Toomey will be competing a week earlier in Miami at the Wodapalooza CrossFit Festival.
Toomey is not the only top athlete that will not be competing at the Australian CrossFit Championship. Fellow Australian, Kara Saunders, will also be sitting out. Saunders’ reason, however, is because she is pregnant with her first child.
The full list of athletes competing in Australia will be released soon.
