We are just about 24 hours into the start of the 2023 CrossFit Games season. CrossFit Open 23.1 was released yesterday afternoon and it’s a repeat of 14.4.
For the OG CrossFitters, this is a repeat and we are guessing almost everyone beat their old score. For those who weren’t around, the biggest sticking point is the ring muscle-ups (obviously). Get at least one of those and you move up the leaderboard considerably.
And while most athletes will keep their scores under wraps until the last minute, Noah Ohlsen and Chandler Smith aren’t hiding anything after publishing the video of their 23.1 performance.
Noah Ohlsen got 290 reps, which was 34 reps better than Noah’s performance in 2014. If you’re doing the math, 290 reps means Ohlsen finished one complete round of the chipper, another 60 calorie row and 30 more toes-to-bar.Â
Back in 2014, the best score was by Rich Froning, who did 277 reps.
Today, however, the best score right now is Royce Dunne with 297 reps (there are a few athletes above Dunne but they appear to be incorrect will likely be removed shortly).
As for Chandler Smith, it appears by watching the video he got two toes-to-bar before the 14-minute clock expired for a score of 262 reps.Â
Both Ohlsen and Smith’s scores have not yet been uploaded to the leaderboard yet.
So without any further delay, here is Noah and Chandler’s video of 23.1…
