Wodapalooza has historically only offered Teams of 3 (same gender) as a competition division. However, with the announcement that the only way for teams to qualify for the 2019 CrossFit Games is via a CrossFit-sanctioned event, the organizers of Wodapalooza have added a ‘Teams of 4’ division to send a team (or teams) to Madison, Wisconsin.
The qualification process for the Teams of 4, however, is different than the individual competition. Teams of 4 will actually apply for one of 10 spots that will compete in Miami this January.
The deadline to apply is Friday, October 26, at 11:59pm EST. Wodapalooza will select the 10 teams based on the teams’ athletes accolades. To help determine those teams that deserve a spot, Wodapalooza’s application includes a section to “Describe your team’s collective and individual accolades”. The application also asks for the athletes’ Instagram handles.
Between the descriptive text and Instagram handles, Wodapalooza will invite the top 10 teams to compete. Don’t be surprised if you see Rich Froning and CrossFit Mayhem down in Miami. But with the ability to create super teams that are not co-located, the competition could tighten up.
