The announcement of the 2016 NPGL schedule was a bit overshadowed by the looming CrossFit regionals, but now that the dust has settled let’s take a look at the upcoming season.

In 2016, the same eight teams are returning to battle it out for the Pinnacle Trophy. The reigning two-time champions, DC Brawlers, will have to fight off the challengers away from their home turf as all games this season will be played in Provo, Utah, just 45 minutes south of Salt Lake City.

The season begins on August 17, a little over three weeks following the CrossFit Games. This should make it easier for crossover athletes to compete with their team the whole season. In prior seasons, athletes qualifying for the CrossFit Games were unable to compete during a portion of the season since it conflicted with the intense training required.

The season will be fast as each team will play just three regular season games in a span of 11 days. The regular season will be a round robin within their respective Eastern and Western Conferences. The top two teams from each conference will reach the playoffs beginning on September 2. The NPGL Final will take place on Wednesday, September 7.
