If there ever was a time to let up on the gas, this would be the match. With playoffs already secured, the DC Brawlers didn’t need to win against the New York Rhinos on Saturday. The Brawlers, however, have yet to taste defeat in the three seasons of the NPGL and they weren’t going to let that happen yet.

The Brawlers set out against the Rhinos to show the world they are the best team in the league once again. Race after race, the Brawlers pushed the pace and made the Rhinos work to finish within the 30 second time cap.

The Rhinos were time capped twice during the match, Race 3 (Women’s Echo) and Race 8 (Jack and Jill). The Rhinos also failed to score a point in Race 7 (Ladder). The Brawlers had secured a victory by Race 8 but continued to win until the Rhinos were finally able to capture a race win on Race 11 and even time capped the Brawlers. The race win, however, was not enough as the Brawlers easily handed the Rhinos another loss, 21-10.

The win for the Brawlers makes them 3-0 and headed to the playoffs again. The Rhinos’ loss put them at 1-2 for the season and in a three-way tie for the final playoff spot. The Iron’s strong win over the Anthem and the Rhinos’ poor performance allowed the Iron to take the tiebreaker and make the playoffs again this year.
