Lukas Hogberg announced via Instagram yesterday he will not be continuing with the 2020 CrossFit Open. Instead, he says, he will focus on the 2020 Sanctionals events to qualify for the CrossFit Games.

“It’s been a long season for me and a lot of stress around me. I don’t feel that this Open shit show gives me any motivation or enjoy in my training and career as a professional athlete.”

The Swedish athlete placed 98th in the world in 20.1 with a 9:25 time. Hogberg posted a video of himself doing 20.2, but no word on how he finished. He’ll be looking for his sixth Games appearance this year after qualifying last year as the fittest man in Sweden, finishing 17th. His best finish came the year before, taking third place behind Mat Fraser and Patrick Vellner.
