The first two matches of the 2016 NPGL take place tonight. The New York Rhinos will face off against the Boston Iron at 6:00pm ET while the defending champs, the DC Brawlers, take on the Baltimore Anthem at 9:00pm ET.
The teams will take on Pike’s Peak, a format featuring weighted pistols, a deadlift ladder, and overturns among many other movements. The Pike’s Peak format was featured in the 2014 quarterfinals so it will be interesting to see how much faster teams can go after two years of GRID action under their belt.
The Boston Iron and DC Brawlers are expected to battle it out for the Eastern Conference title this season. Boston has a revamped roster that, on paper, could be strong enough to stop the DC Brawlers reign. The DC Brawlers’ roster features many of the same athletes from its past two championships such as Taylar Stallings, Christian Harris, Becca Day and Tim Paulson.
In its third season, the NPGL will feature matches over the @@The concluding with a 4-team playoff the first week of September. All matches are being held in Provo, Utah. To watch the action live, become a subscriber to GRIDTV.
