Last month, the National Pro Grid League (NPGL) announced that it would be back in 2016. The season schedule has not yet been released, but matches will begin later this year. The matches will run from mid-August through September. In 2015, the season began in June and ran through October 1 with a break in July. The shift in scheduling will free up athletes who compete in the CrossFit Games in July.
For fans of the NPGL, every match will be streamed lived with matches aired on TV following the matches.
All eight teams from last year will be returning in 2016. No expansion teams have been announced either. The 2016 NPGL Draft will be on April 19 with a supplemental draft following that on April 29. Teams have the ability to sign some players prior to the draft.
There are some rule changes going into effect in 2016. This year, teams can sign up to 24 players with six of those players being developmental players. The developmental players will not be able to play unless an active player is injured and will not return for the remainder of the season.
