3-Year Old CrossFitter Featured in Dove Super Bowl Commercial

If you were watching the Super Bowl, you probably saw a Dove commercial featuring a little girl running. That little girl is Sky, a three-year from Miami, Florida. But Sky is not just any toddler, she is a CrossFitter.

You also might have actually seen Sky and her sister, Winter, before tonight. The sisterly duo have a popular Instagram account, @dubocsisters, that is run by their parents, Franco and Michelle Duboc. The page features the girls being active and having fun inside their CrossFit gym.

That gym is actually owned by their parents. Franco and Michelle own CrossFit Unbounded, a CrossFit affiliate in Miami, Florida. Being in the CrossFit community for almost 15 years, the Duboc family has always valued movement and a healthy lifestyle, especially when raising their daughters.

“We introduced them to movement early on, keeping it fun and natural,” said Franco Duboc, Sky’s father. “We never force it and have just created an environment where being active is part of everyday life.”

The Dubocs homeschool their girls and their gym family has been a place where Sky and Winter have learned to interact and grow socially. “We’re so blessed to have an amazing group of members who support and encourage them [Sky and Winter], allowing them to be themselves in the gym,” said Franco.

As for the Instagram page, Franco started the page when Michelle was pregnant with Sky. Franco said he created the page to see what he and Winter were up to and, at the same, time share it with the world.

Franco shared, “For us it was never about screen time. It was about being active and using every moment as a chance to teach something. The page became a way to show how important it is to move, play and be present with your kids.”

And that’s where the Dove commercial came in. A friend of the Francos and a member of the gym told the Dubocs that a casting agency was looking for a young girl who loves to run. Their daughter loves to run so they decided to send in a video…of their older daughter, Winter.

But during the process of reviewing audition tapes, they ran across the @dubocsisters Instagram page. The Dubocs were then asked if they could also submit a video of Sky.

After submitting the video, Sky and Winter both ended up in the top 10 of the worldwide casting call. In the end Dove selected Sky because it fit better with the message of the commercial.

“We had no idea it was for a Super Bowl commercial,” said Franco. “We only found out once she was officially selected.”

The Dove commercial features Sky running with a caption that appears stating that one in two girls quit sports due to body image concerns.

Franco spoke on the message, “As a family, we believe in the importance of movement, confidence and keeping girls in sports. So to be part of a campaign that aligns so deeply with our values is truly incredible.”

He then added, “It’s something that everyone in the CrossFit community can relate to and we are honored to be part of it.”
