Yesterday, the World Fitness Project published its first episode of UNBREAKABLE on YouTube. The 22-minute video featured Jeff Adler and was filmed by Heber Cannon & Marston Sawyers of the Buttery Bros. But less than 24 hours since the video was uploaded to YouTube it has been taken down due to a copyright claim by CrossFit, LLC.
While it has not been confirmed the exact reason behind the copyright claim, it is likely due to the use of CrossFit Games footage that was captured by Cannon and Sawyers while under a Media and Press Agreement with CrossFit, LLC.
In the short promo reel on Instagram below there are several clips from the CrossFit Games that appear to be from Buttery Bros footage.
In the past the Buttery Bros have received enhanced access to produce their documentaries covering the CrossFit Games.
However, the 2024 Media and Press Agreement explicitly prohibits “commercial use” of content from the CrossFit Games unless approved by CrossFit, LLC. In that agreement CrossFit prohibits licensing footage to third parties for commercial use.
Laura Horvath was slated to be featured in Episode 2 of the World Fitness Project series.
