The wildfires in Los Angeles continue to spread. The LA Times is reporting that over 2,000 structures have burned and more than 130,000 residents have been evacuated. While the fires have not been contained and more damage is imminent, some in the CrossFit community have already been impacted.
As such, fundraising efforts have begun popping up. Below are the fundraisers that I am aware of. If you know of others that are supporting CrossFit affiliates or others in the CrossFit community, please email me at thebarbellspin@gmail.com so I can add it below.
Rebuild Lives: Aid for CrossFit LA Families
A GoFundMe has been organized to help families of CrossFit LA, also known as Oak Park. For those who are not familiar, CrossFit Los Angeles just celebrated its 20th anniversary as a CrossFit affiliate.
It’s owner, Kenny Kane, was also recently on THE SPIN.
Kenny lost his home along with several other CrossFit LA members.Â
PRVN FITNESS – LA STRONG FUNDRAISER
PRVN Fitness is selling a specially designed ‘LA STRONG’ t-shirt to raise money to help support the CrossFit community affected by the wild fires. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to wildfire relief efforts.
Additionally, if you or someone you know owns a CrossFit gym or business impacted by the wildfires, reach out to PRVN directly at customerservice@prvnfitness.com so they can coordinate support through donations.
The t-shirt fundraiser is open now with pre-sale orders running through January 15.Â
LA Fire Aid for Coach Tom
CrossFit Darkhorse coach Tom lost his house Tuesday from the LA wildfires. After coaching at the gym he raced home to save his cat and get his wedding ring before the fire reached his house. He lost everything else.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help Tom and his wife get back on their feet.
Relief Aid for CrossFit Crown City Families
CrossFit Crown City is located in Pasadena, California. Many members have had to evacuate, and in some instances, some have lost their homes. With issues around fire insurance, fellow members of CFCC have set up a fundraiser via SpotFund to help families at CFCC who have been impacted by the wildfires.
CFCC will also tie in this fundraiser to an upcoming powerlifting event to raise additional funds.
Support Pendulum Fitness Members After Eaton Fire
Fourteen members of Pendulum Fitness have already lost their homes and more are at risk. Some of those who have lost their homes had their insurance coverage dropped by their carrier days before the wildfires began. A GoFundMe has been set up to help those members directly affected by the fires.
