16.1 Open Announcement

And so it begins. Dave Castro didn’t waste time to throw in a new movement this year and mixed things up by incorporating chest-to-bar pull-ups in Week 1, a first for the CrossFit Open. For those living under a rock, the new movement in 16.1 is Overhead Walking Lunges. All of those 16.1 predictions, not even close.

One of the coolest parts of the Open Announcement was the inclusion of two non-Games athletes competing alongside Abbott and Cho. The Western Digital employees did well with one man going Rx with the woman going scaled. To put yourself out there on a live stream watched by all is commendable.
