And so begins CrossFit’s newest competition, the CrossFit Liftoff, powered by Rogue Fitness. CrossFit HQ provided a vague framework of the on-line competition last month, but now all the details are here. Three separate “events”: [1] 1RM Snatch, [2] 1RM Clean & Jerk and [3] a 12-minute AMRAP featuring snatches, C&Js, Chest-to-Bar Pull-ups and Double Unders. With weight divisions added into the mix, each event now must include a scale to weight yourself.
As of 2:00 EST on November 6, over 3,200 men and 1,400 women have registered.
The events should provide some great videos on social media, especially Instagram, but the metcon is a little surprising. With the snatch and clean & jerk already represented in the 1RM efforts, to see both in the metcon is interesting. It appears the thinking is that the CTB and DUs will separate the bodyweight ninjas from the stronger athletes, but the 135# barbell movements could add up near the end of the workout.
