Dave Castro just announced the five events of the 2015 Reebok CrossFit Invitational held on December 6 in Madrid, Spain, following an athlete dinner. Well, technically only three of the events are known at this point. The details of the two Team Speed Clean events have yet to be released as of 3:00pm EST.

Here’s what is known right now:

Event 1: Thrusters & Pull-ups

One woman then one man perform:
21 thrusters (95 / 65 lb.)
4 rope climbs
15 thrusters (95 / 65 lb.)
3 rope climbs
9 thrusters (95 / 65 lb.)
2 rope climbs

Then,

Second woman then second man perform:
21 thrusters (95 / 65 lb.)
3 legless rope climbs
15 thrusters (95 / 65 lb.)
2 legless rope climbs
9 thrusters (95 / 65 lb.)
1 legless rope climbs

Event 2&3: Team Speed Clean

Details TBA

Event 4: Push, Lift, Flip

For time:
25 handstand push-ups (each) [Teammates in static holds]
2-rep snatch at each bar (each)
Men: 185/195/205/215/225 lb.
          Women: 120/125/130/135/140 lb.
2-rep clean at each bar (each)
Men: 245/255/265/275/285 lb.
          Women: 145/155/165/175/185 lb.
50-ft. tire flip
as M/F partners, alternating each flip

This event’s first element is similar to the 2015 Regional Team #6 event (row/HSPU/T2B/OH Lunge), where it’s a “conga” line style event as the athletes work through HSPU’s as the remaining athletes following with different static holds.

Once all four athletes complete their 25 HSPU’s, the men and women pairs work in tandem to complete their 2-rep barbell movements. Each male/female pair cannot move to the next weight until both pairs have completed the work. It’s similar to the GRID League’s Event 2: Mirror race as teammates must stay within a certain rep range before moving on.

After all barbell movements have been completed, a male/female pair will work together to flip the tire, with pairs alternating after each flip.

Event 5: Synch, Row, Bike, Worm

For Time:
4 synchronized muscle-ups
5 synchronized muscle-ups
6 synchronized muscle-ups
7 synchronized muscle-ups
Men row 500 meters (each) [Women static deadlift hold, 225 lb.]
Women row 500 meters  (each) [Men static deadlift hold, 315 lb.]
Men bike 1,000 meters (each) [Women static hold 135 lb. in front rack]
Women bike 1,000 meters (each) [Men static hold 185 lb. in front rack]
20 Worm thrusters
10 Worm ground-to-shoulders

To begin the workout, the synchronized muscle-ups are a combination of bar and ring MU’s and are more akin to a relay.

To complete one “rep”, Athlete #1 will do a bar muscle-up, then Athlete #2 will do a bar muscle-up, then Athlete #3 will do a ring muscle-up, then Athlete #4 will do a ring muscle-up. That’s one rep. The teams will do four reps and then the athletes will rotate stations and continue to pattern, this time with 5 reps, rotate and then 6 reps, rotate and then 7 reps.

Following the synchronized muscle-ups, the athletes will row and bike with static holds.

The teams will finish the event (and competition) with the ever-popular team element, the Worm.

Scoring

Points will be awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd for the first four events. The fifth event, all teams will receive at least one point. The scoring for each event is shown below.

Rank Event #1 Event #2 Event #3 Event #4 Event #5
1st 6 3 3 6 7
2nd 4 2 2 4 5
3rd 2 1 1 2 3
4th 0 0 0 0 1

The scoring is a little odd in that Event #5 appears to be weighted more heavily, but the point spread between rankings is the same as any other event (or Event 2&3 combined). Regardless of the scoring, it should be fun competition to watch this Sunday.
