The first of the big off-season functional fitness/throwdown events has come to an end and quite a few familiar faces found their way to the top of the leaderboard. In the Men AsRX division, Patrick Vellner, 3rd place at the 2016 CrossFit Games, took home the win. On the women’s side (Women AsRX), Dani Horan, multiple year CrossFit Games athlete, took 1st place followed by Kari Pearce, 5th place at 2016 CrossFit Games, who took 2nd.
In the Community Team division, Powered by Origin Meals (Andrea Nisler, Kelly Wild, Addison Bain, Joey Tortora) took 1st place after a hectic final two events. Second place finisher, Midwest Exercisers (Jack Long, Duke Burk, Madison Freeman, Taylor Williamson), took the lead after the next-to-last event, but were unable to hang on during the final event as Powered by Origin Meals ran away on the Flip Flop event.
In the Masters divisions, Jeff Germond (2014 CrossFit Games individual athlete) won the Masters 35-39 division while Ron Ortiz (2016 CrossFit Games Masters 50-54 champion) won the Masters 50-54 division. In the Teenage Boys 14-18 division, George Sterner (2016 CrossFit Games Teenage Boys 16-17 2nd place finisher) won the competition.
