Earlier this morning, Alexandra LaChance announced that she will not be competing in the 2016 CrossFit Open due to a lingering back injury. LaChance finished 17th in the South Regional last year and 34th at the CrossFit Games in 2014.
Because so many people have asked, I feel the need to share some news with you guys. I will unfortunately have to sit out this CrossFit season. I have been pushing through a back injury from a competition last year, and my back finally completely gave out over Christmas break. I couldn’t stand or walk for over week. I still can’t run, jump, or move a barbell, but I am doing everything in my power to come back stronger and healthier than I’ve ever been for next year. My goal is to make it back to the @crossfitgames as an individual, and I know that I can’t do that unless I’m healthy. I owe it to myself to see what my body is capable of, and there is no point to continue breaking my body if it isn’t getting me to my ultimate goal. It’s unbelievably frustrating and sad to have to watch your friends train and prepare for a season that you can’t be a part of, so I urge of all of you to take care of your bodies, so you don’t have to experience what I’m going through. Take the time to fix the imbalances in your body, do your mobility and accessory work, and make your technique a priority. You only have one body in this life, and if you want to get the most out of it, you need to take care of it. Good luck to all of you this season! ❤️ @kegandillon @mbslingshot @marksmellybell @silentmikke @nikewomen @niketraining @nike @compexusa @fuelforfire @junkbrands @guerrillawarfit
