Heading into the South Regional a lot of attention was on the top athletes from Latin America, Brenda Castro and Marcelo Bruno. But after two days and four events, both Castro and Bruno are out of contention to qualify for the CrossFit Games.
Castro sits in 13th heading into Sunday and is 71 points behind Brista Mayfield in 5th place. Castro’s best finish was 8th place on Event 1, but she struggled on the ring dips on Event 2 taking 24th place dropping her outside the top 10.
Bruno is in 16th place after four events and 106 points outside of 5th place. Bruno has yet to finish an event inside the top 10 with two 11th place finishes. On event 3, however, Bruno struggled on the rope climbs, ultimately getting time capped and finishing in 41st place on the event.
The men take the floor for Event 5 on Sunday at 12:40pm Central while the women begin at 2:10pm Central.
