In 2015, CrossFit Mayhem needed a Sunday comeback to seal the victory. Last year, Rich Froning and team ran away with the title early and never looked back. This year, the competition is tough, but Mayhem is sitting in 2nd place and looks primed to make another run at the Affiliate Cup title.
CrossFit Mayhem started off strong with a 4th place finish in the Run-Swim-Run event and followed it up with a 5th place finish in the Men’s Muscle-Up Snatch event and 7th in the Women’s Muscle-Up Snatch.
But even though Mayhem never finished worse than 7th, CrossFit Invictus has a 24-point lead after two 5th place finishes and an event win. The win came on the Men’s Muscle-Up Snatch event where they went head-to-head with Froning and co. Behind them is 3rd place CrossFit Fort Vancouver and 4th place Wasatch CrossFit.
During the Muscle-Up Snatch event, the members of CrossFit Mayhem were wearing the custom-made Nano 7 Weave 38501 Pack. The red, white and blue shoes are named after Cookeville, Tennessee’s zip code and are the first “team-inspired” shoe created by Reebok.
In an exclusive interview with Reebok yesterday before the start of competition, Rich Froning discussed the notion of super teams, “People in the community have more of a connection with a team. If there’s a team at your gym, you see them working together day in and day out and so it’s hard not to have that connection and want to watch them. New teams will help get new eyes on the Games.”
