In a surprise twist, Dan Bailey withdrew from the Central Regional this morning before Event 3. Bailey, who struggled on Event 1, came back strong to finish 3rd on Event 2.
But this morning, Bailey was seen in the back attempting one-arm rope climbs before making the decision to withdraw from competition. While an official reason for the ‘WD’ has not been made it is very likely another pec tear.
This would add to the devastating total of pec tears coming from the ring dips. Nick Urankar was unable to complete the first round of ring dips after injuring himself leading up to the competition. Ryan Sowder has a pec strain and Sam Dancer injured himself two weeks prior to this weekend.
The injury to Bailey brings his individual career in to question. Bailey came back this year so as to not end on a bad note as he missed qualifying for the CrossFit Games out of the California Regional last year.
