It’s hard to believe the CrossFit Games wrapped up over a month ago. The elite athletes have recovered and are back in the gym training for 2017. The CrossFit Games, however, is just one of the competitions the top athletes take part in throughout the year. From now through January, off-season “functional fitness” throwdowns provide these athletes a way to stay competitive and earn some extra cash.
The elite off-season competitions kick off this week with the Granite Games in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The three day competition begins Friday, September 9 and runs through Sunday, September 11. This year marks the 5th year of the Granite Games and will host approximately 1,000 athletes, from elite to scaled and individual to team competitions.
In 2015, Albert Dominic Larouche won the Men’s Pro Division and Sara Sigmundsdottir won the Women’s Pro Division. Both the men’s and women’s Top 10 standings were filled with CrossFit Games veterans and soon-to-be Games athletes (i.e. Sam Dancer and Tasia Percevecz).
Athlete check-in begins on Thursday, September 8, and the competition kicks off at 10:00am on Friday, September 9. You can watch the action live on FloElite (with a FloPro membership).
