The final CrossFit Open announcement will be a rematch between Katrin Davidsdottir and Sara Sigmundsdottir. The two Icelandic athletes will be in Madison, Wisconsin, home of the 2017 CrossFit Games competing at the Monona Terrace and tickets can be purchased here.
The match-up is a rematch of the 16.4 Open announcement, where Sigmundsdottir blazed through a chipper of deadlifts, wall balls, row and handstand push-ups. Sigmundsdottir went on to finish 3rd in Open while Davidsdottir finished 14th worldwide. Davidsdottir would, however, defend her CrossFit Games title in July to be the two-time Fittest Woman on Earth. Sigmundsdottir would go on to take 3rd place at the Games for the second consecutive year.
While both Davidsdottir and Sigmundsdottir are natives of Iceland, Davidsdottir moved to the United States in 2016 and competed out of the North East region while training with Ben Bergeron. Sigmundsdottir made news last week as she announced she moved to California in December and will be competing in the Southern California region in 2017.
