Mat Fraser ended Day 1 just like he ended 2016. After three events on Day 1 of the 2017 CrossFit Games, Fraser is once again in 1st place and is 14 points ahead of Jonne Koski.
Fraser started of the day with a 7th place finish on the Run-Swim-Run event and it would end up being his worse finish on Thursday. A 2nd place on the Cyclocross event and another on Amanda .45 would vault Fraser back to where he is all too familiar lately.

Koski is the only other male athlete to finish the first three events in the top 10. Fikowski started the day with his 5th CrossFit Games career event victory on the Run-Swim-Run but had two middle of the pack performances dropping him to 5th overall.
The top 10 includes four rookies – Ricky Garard, Dakota Rager, Cody Mooney and South African Jason Smith. Garard easily won the Cyclocross event while Rager leaped into 7th overall after a dominating performance on Amanda .45.

Last year’s runner-up Ben Smith is in 10th and Patrick Vellner is back in 19th.
