[Update: Salo posted a time of 11:27 on 17.1 and is currently sitting in 7th in the Masters 35-39 division.]
For anyone who followed CrossFit before 2012, this is the year we’ve all been waiting for. The 2009 CrossFit Games champion from Finland, Mikko Salo, is back! Salo won the 2009 CrossFit Games, 5th in 2010 and then DNF in 2011 with a busted ear drum during the ocean swim.
Since then Salo battled injuries in 2012 and 2013 and has not been back to the Games. With the added 35-39 Masters division, Salo is making his return to the competition floor. Salo had said in the past that he would compete if the 35-39 division was added and with a simple Instagram post, he backed up that statement.
Salo has yet to post his score, but rest assured the legend with an unstoppable engine will be near the top of the leaderboard.
