In January, Sara Sigmundsdottir announced that she was moving to San Diego and would be competing out of the Southern California region. But because of a delayed visa, Sigmundsdottir never made it to California. Instead, she went straight to Cookeville, Tennessee right before the CrossFit Open began to train with Rich Froning and team at CrossFit Mayhem.
Sigmundsdottir ended up never leaving Cookeville and completed all of the Open workouts in Tennessee. She contacted CrossFit to let them know that she plans to stay and train out of CrossFit Mayhem for the remainder of the CrossFit Games season.
So with that, CrossFit has changed her region to the Central East. Good news for those in California. Not so much in the Central Regional.
Sigmundsdottir won the CrossFit Open and will move into first place in the Central East region ahead of Games veteran Kristi Eramo. The change has not yet been made on the CrossFit Games leaderboard.
