Sara Sigmundsdottir lived up to expectations in the Central Regional with a dominating performance over the weekend. Sigmundsdottir won three events and set two event records on her way to a 55-point win over Kristi Eramo. Throughout the weekend, fans from CrossFit Mayhem cheered on the Icelandic Games veteran.
Sigmundsdottir won events 2, 3 and 6 and never finished worse than 4th place. On the two shortest events, 2 and 6, Sigmundsdottir set event records. No one else in the Central Regional finished all six events in the top 10.
Eramo would end up taking 2nd place overall followed by Stacie Tovar, Brooke Wells and Jessica Griffith. It will be Tovar’s 8th appearance at the CrossFit Games and Griffith’s first time at the Games competing as an individual.
Wells finished strong after a disappointing Day 1 with an event record setting Event 4 to move her into contention heading into Sunday. Wells struggled a bit on the ring muscle-ups on Event 5, but would end on a high note taking 2nd on the sprint chipper.
