in 2016, Tia-Clair Toomey placed 2nd at the CrossFit Games in Carson, California, and a couple weeks later, Toomey finished 14th in the women’s 58kg weight category. Alethea Boon ruptured her Achilles tendon at the CrossFit Games and has been rehabbing her way back to health since.

The past month both athletes have been competing in the 2017 CrossFit Open in a bid to reach the Pacific Regional and possibly back to the CrossFit Games in Madison, Wisconsin. However, last weekend Toomey and Boon competed in the 58kg weight category in the 2017 Australian International & Australian Open.

Toomey won the weight category with an 84kg snatch and 111kg clean & jerk for a 195kg total. Boon took 2nd place with a 76kg snatch and 95kg clean and jerk. The event acts as the 2018 Commonwealth Games qualifier.
