Julieta Chapi is currently 5th in the world after 17.2. Chapi competes out of Codigo CrossFit in the Latin America region, but is not new to the competitive side of CrossFit.
Chapi has competed in the CrossFit Open four times since 2012, only missing the 2013 Open. The past two years Chapi competed out of the Latin America region finishing 18th and 191st in 2015 and 2016, respectively. In 2012, Chapi went by Julieta Gangemi where she placed 52nd in the Latin America region during the Open, made it to Regionals, but ended up not competing.
In 2017, it appears that Chapi has made some big improvements and now sits 5th overall. Here is her video from 17.1 where she finished in 10:13. She followed that up with 219 reps on 17.2.
