The 2015 IWF World Championships held in Houston, Texas, was named the 2016 SportsTravel Best Amateur Single-Sport Event of the Year by SportsTravel Magazine. The November 2015 event hosted almost 600 athletes from 94 countries.
SportsTravel Magazine awarded the event “for its superior organization and spectator attendance, for creating superior experience for competitors and spectators.”
The award was presented to Janis Burke, CEO of the Harris-County-Houston Sports Authority, and Phil Andrews, CEO of USA Weightlifting, Tuesday night in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
