Anatolie Cîrîcu (Moldova) won the bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics in the men’s 84kg weight class. However, today the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) announced that Cîrîcu tested positive for the anabolic agent Dehydrochlormethyltestosterone during the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) reanalysis testing.

The positive sample from 2012 means that the IWF has imposed the mandatory provisional suspension until the case is closed. If the positive test is confirmed, all three medalists in the 94kg weight class at the 2012 London Olympics would have been disqualified.

Ilya Ilyin (Kazakhstan) and Aleksandr Ivanov (Russia) have already been disqualified following positive drug test results.
