Michael Fox entered the USA Weightliftng American Open as the favorite in the Men’s 56kg weight category. But after three failed attempts at a 105kg snatch, the competition got interesting.
Following Fox’s three missed attempts, Brian Reisenauer hit a successful 106kg for the final snatch of the session to take a commanding 6kg lead over Andrew Cheung. Reisenauer and Cheung matched 120kg opening clean & jerks, but Reisenauer made the 126kg second attempt while Cheung missed 127kg. Cheung followed that up with a good lift, but it wouldn’t be enough to catch Reisenauer.
Reisenauer went 4-for-6 for a 232kg total to win the Men’s 56kg weight category. Cheung took 2nd with 227kg and Antwan Kilbert took 3rd with a distant 198kg total.
