CJ Cummings has done it again. Cummings, competing at the IWF Youth World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand, broke his own Youth World Record Clean & Jerk on his way to another international gold medal.

After taking 2nd place in the snatch behind North Korea’s Kwang Song Ri, Cummings came out and obliterated the field on the clean and jerk. Cummings’ 137kg snatch put him 3kg behind Ri, but with an opening attempt of 170kg Cummings set himself apart from the field. His second attempt at 177kg gave Cummings another gold medal in international competition.

With one attempt left, Cummings increased his weight by 8kg to 185kg for an attempt to break his own Youth World Record Clean & Jerk. He made the lift and finished with a 322kg total, well ahead of 2nd place at 306kg.

Cummings also set a slew of new American Records. His 185kg clean & jerk and 322kg total set new American Youth, Junior and Senior Records. “It was an honor to come out here and represent our country,” Cummings said. “It was an amazing feeling especially when athletes from all over the world came up to me and congratulate me.”
