CJ Cummings just won the gold medal the 2016 IWF Junior World Championships in the 69kg weight class. At only 16 years old, Cummings competed against weightlifters up to 4 years older than him. The age gap didn’t matter as Cummings went 6-for-6 to win the gold medal handily and set Youth World Records on the way.

After a 137kg snatch, Cummings entered the Clean & Jerk in 4th place, but only 2kg behind 1st place. During the Clean & Jerk, Cummings’ first attempt at 170kg would ultimately be enough to take home the overall gold medal, but he would not stop there. His second attempt, 175kg, set the Youth World Record for the Clean & Jerk.

With 176kg needed to set the Youth Total World Record, Cummings bumped up his final attempt to 180kg. After another successful lift, Cummings set another Youth World Record with a 317kg Total.

Cummings walks away with two gold medals and two Youth World Records.
