The French Weightlifting Federation (FFHM) is claiming they have received a fifth spot to the Olympics following the positive drug test results of other countries. This would mean France would be sending four male weightlifters to the Olympics in August.
The FFHM also stated they have applied to the IWF for an additional female weightlifter spot. The FFHM is expecting a response from the IWF by July 10.
There has not been an official statement from the IWF regarding how the Olympic spots will be handled following the reanalysis testing and the positive test results following the World Championships. The IWF has a lot to sort out in the coming few weeks. Stay tuned as there is still a chance the United States is awarded additional spots.
