Hayley Reichardt had a pretty good day on Friday at the 2016 USA Weightlifting American Open. Reichardt, competing in the Women’s 48kg weight category, went 5-for-6 with her only miss coming on her first snatch attempt at 68kg.
Reichardt went on to hit 68kg on her second attempt and followed that up with a successful 71kg snatch to set the Youth American Record – Snatch. The 70kg record was held by fellow competitor, Megan Seegert.
On the clean and jerks, Reichardt opened with 87kg tying her own Youth American Record. From there, she hit 89kg and then 91kg to break her own Youth American Record – Clean & Jerk by 4kg.
Reichardt ended the day with a 162kg total, breaking her own Youth American Record – Total by 5kg. She would, however have to wait on Megan Seegert’s final clean & jerk attempt to find out if it was good enough to medal. Seegert ended up missing her 94kg attempt to also finish at 162kg. Reichardt won the bronze medal and goes home with three Youth American Records.
